Scope NYC 2013 & the MLB FanCave!

Scope is one of the premier showcases for International emerging contemporary art and multi-disciplinary creative programming. Scope is known for presenting the most innovative galleries, artists, and curators. From March 6th to March 10th, Scope came to town and brought life to the NYC Art scene. Yours truly had the wonderful opportunity to document the phenomenal works of art that Scope exhibits. Everywhere you looked, you were stunned by beautiful masterpieces, all effortfully put together by new and established dynamic artists.

Artist Sormeh Saei's "Double Take".

Art and music, two of life's beautiful delights. If you're not in love with one, you're in love with the other. And most of the time, in love with both. Artist Sormeh Saei brings these two pleasures together through her art work, creating a world where art embraces music, and music embraces art.

Sormeh Saei began the new year presenting her solo show, Double Take, exhibiting portraits of her most influential male musicians while growing up. Double Take features legends like Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Biggie, and more. Sormeh has had her worked admired by many of the artists she's starred in her paintings, as well as features in print, online and TV media. I've gotten to know Sormeh's artwork online, but seeing her work in person was an absolute pleasure! 

I had the chance to learned more about Sormeh's influences and interests after the show. Check out my interview with artist Sormeh Saei, as well as a few pieces from her exhibition Double Take!

New York Auto Show 2012!

Spring has arrived, and with it comes tons of exciting events. One of which is the New York Auto Show! It seemed like it was just yesterday that I found myself drooling over the beauties showcased at the Jacob Javits Center for the first time. After my first encounter with the event, a second one was a must! When I heard the 2012 NYAS was around the corner, I HAD TO attend! It seems as if the event gets bigger and better every year, this year truly surpassing the last! A $15 ticket will get you into the world of automotive ingenuity, at its finest!

Within the last two years, I have become quite the auto-world enthusiast. From vintage beauties to striking exotics, every model&make makes my heart swoon! You don't have to be an auto junkie to find the NYAS amazing, everyone of all ages and interests will find this showcase to be a must see!

Street Art & Sex Hook Up at the MOS!

One of my favorite places has put together three of my favorite things, all under one roof: sex, internet, and street art! Yes, the Museum of Sex does it again, showcasing two spanking new exhibitions:  Universe of Desire and F*CK ART. The installations opened to the public the night of February 8th, and yours truly got to attend the opening reception! I was absolutely thrilled to get a first look at the new exhibitions, along with documenting a sneak peek for my readers! 

Universe of Desire exposes the biggest and dirtiest side of the cyber world. Shedding light upon the sex crazed, fetish Utopia called the Internet and embracing all it beholds. The exhibition reflects how we share our innermost thoughts, fantasies, and desires via electronic screens throughout the world.

F*CK ART is definitely the man of the hour at the MOS. Featuring 20 select artists, street art takes over the third floor, producing a multicolored manifestation of nitty gritty, lusty busty, nothing held back SEX. Not for the faint of heart, F*CK ART exudes the in-your-face attitude the world of graffiti is known for. Mix a bit of lust into that, and you got yourself a party!

Participating artists include AIKO. Andrew H. Shirley, B-rad Izzy, Cassius Fouler. DICKCHICKEN. DROID, GEN 2, OZE 108 of 907, El Celso, Jeremy Novy, JMR, LUSH, Miss Van, MODE 2, Patch Whisky, ROSTARR, RTTP: Nathan Vincent & Bryan Raughton, Tony Bones, William Thomas Porter, WOLFTITS, and Wonderpuss Octopus.

I've been a M.O.S fan and avid visiter for some time now, and I've always fallen in lust with their showcases. But I must admit, these two new exhibitions are the creme of the crop! In my opinion, they're the most interactive installations yet, as well as the most provocative! Definitely a must see!

Reebok x Reed Space: "Classic Sessions NYC"

The love for art and music, go hand in hand. So when one finds themselves amidst both wonders, one is guaranteed greatness. Appreciating both crafts, Reebok and Reedspace have teamed up and introduced the new "Classic Sessions NYC" at 145 Orchard in the LES. For the next few months, musicians and visual artists will pair up and take over the pop-up venue open to the public. Kicking off the brilliant series was the talented Queens MC T.Shirt on the music side, and the dynamic duo UR New York on the art side. Inspired by each other's gifts, UR New York presented a fantastic installation influenced by one of T.Shirt's tracks off his album "The Fuck". T.Shirt gave music lovers a superb show by performing 4 songs off his album, while beautiful artistry flowed throughout the walls.

Museum of the Moving Image!

I can be quite the museum junkie, so when I go a long time without visiting one, I get the museum itch! The museum itch must be controlled. I recently managed to soothe the itch by visiting The Museum of the Moving Image! Located in my home borough of Queens, it surprises me that I hadn't gone before. And yet, I'm glad I waited this long, being that the museum underwent a recent expansion. This place is an absolute Utopia for pop culture, television, and movie enthusiasts! I absolutely recommend it, you'll feel like a kid in a candy store! But the museum doesn't limit itself to just the big screen, inside you'll find everything from vintage video games, to an Egyptian movie theatre!

If names like Star Wars, Nintendo, Muppets, Carrie Bradshaw, and Charlie Chaplin make your heart run wild, then this is the place for you! There's something for everyone at the Museum of the Moving image!

Instagram 8x8 Gallery Exhibition

If you've followed my blog long enough, you would know I am an avid Instagram user. And every Tuesday, I present you Hipsta-Insta Tuesdays, showcasing images of my week through both Hipstamatic and Instagram. I've been using Instagram for exactly a year now, way before it got hella trendy! But I am glad it got popular because it is a fantastic photo application which has managed to built up an incredible following. Boasting more than 8million users, the app has grown increasingly in a very short time, and even had Facebook offer $2billion for ownership of the app. Thankfully, Facebook's offer was turned down.


Amongst todays many social networks, Instagram has to be one of my favorites. The Instagram community gives off a very welcoming and inspirational vibe. Users share bits and pieces of their everyday lives, hashtag, capture beauty in the most simple things, or engage in themed photography. All through Instagram's fun filter effects. Users can comment and "like" each others pics, creating a fun IG bond.


With a following of over 8 million users, the Instagram community was bound to bring their IG galleries to life. And so they did via the 8x8 Gallery Exhibition at Mosaic Skate Shop & Gallery in the Bronx. A gathering of 15 IG users showcased their IG photographs, creating a collection of 44 images all beautifully framed throughout the gallery walls. With approx 200 guests, the turnout was fantastic!  Making the very first annual IG gallery an amazing success!


Yours truly SSS was there, documenting all the IG fun and meeting alot of amazing people!

Upcoming Vintage Auto Show!

This upcoming Sunday the 14th, The Shops at Atlas Park in Queens will be showcasing over 30 different gorgeous vintage autos, motorcycles, and more! Everything from pink Cadillacs to glossy Corvettes, this exhibition has it all! And best of all, it's FREE to the public! Live music, raffles, and trophy giveaways... this is a wonderful way spend a Sunday afternoon, marveling at stunning classic beauties! Yours truly is an automobile enthusiast with a passion for all things classic. so I will definitely be there documenting these gorgeousities <3

Play Me, I'm Yours.

Eighty Eight pianists throughout  NYC performed their best symphonies for onlooking New Yorkers. Using waterfronts, parks, boardwalks, and even post offices as their auditorium. These pianists consisted of 12 year old girls, 29 year old men, and even yours truly. Anyone whose heart desired music, got to star in their own performance. Throughout the month of June, 88 pianos were sprinkled throughout the five boroughs, for all to admire and for all to play whatever songs they wanted to play.


Sing for Hope is a non-profit organization supporting volunteer service programs benefitting schools, hospitals, and communities. All with the help of professional artists  such as classical musicians to photographers to Broadway performers. Sing for Hope gave New Yorkers access to the arts by showcasing 88 pianos throughout different communities. Each piano was gorgeously customized by a different volunteer artist; including Broadway stars, local songwriters, and even ballerinas. This annually showcased project is called The Sing for Hope Pop-Up Pianos, inspired by  Britain based artist Luke Jerram, holding the world’s largest street piano installation to date, and reaching over two million people. The exhibition ended July 2nd and the pianos were donated to schools and hospitals throughout NYC.

The Pop Up Pianos project and all those involve had one motive:
to help bring the arts to all New Yorkers.


Yours truly, being the arts enthusiast she is, decided to go on a piano scavenger hunt.
On the prowl from Manhattan to Queens to to Harlem to Brooklyn, I managed to capture 10 beauitiful pianos.

Showpaper The Community Serviced Too

Showpaper is a free bi weekly print only publication promoting DIY shows in NYC. If you decide to pick up a copy of Showpaper next week, you'll most likely come across a gorgeously customized newspaper box, oozing with unique artistic extravagancy. A project presented by Showcase and curated by Andrew H Shirley, these vibrant boxes will be sprinkled throughout NYC for all to admire. This is the second time Showcase exhibits this form of street art. The first time around, a few of the boxes were actuallly stolen. A box designed by the legendary graffiti artist COST, was not just stolen but also sold on eBay for $4,000. The presentation includes 16 diffrent boxes all customized by artist duos. Pairs included Adam Void & Chris Stain, BAK & VIL, CELSO & SKEWVILLE, CLAW & JESSE, Dennis McNett, Doyle Huge & Mikey 907, GAIA & Heidi Tullmann, HELLBENT w/Alison & Garrison Buxton, Leon Reid IV & POSTERBOY, MINT & SERF, Poneros & SPAM, Sto & Kelie Bowman, SWOON & Noah Sparkes, UFO 907, and a SURE tribute by FAUST.  

Showpaper presented The Community Serviced Too, unveiling the phenomenal designs at 285 Kent ave in Brooklyn before unleashing them into the world. Having the pleasure of being friends with one of the artists (thank you TONS by the way!), I managed to get a sneak peak of the boxes at the exhibition before they're showcased onto the mean streets of NYC. Every design was absolutely fascinating and captivating in its own originality. I cannot wait till NYC gets to marvel at these beauties!!

Picasso and Marie-Thérèse: L’amour fou

"Picasso and Marie-Thérèse: L’amour fou exhibits a secret tender love affair between an illustrious genius artist, and a shy soft-spoken young woman. The curious combination of the two was the perfect concoction for Picasso’s boundlessly visionary mind. Giving birth to some of his most avant-garde pieces. The exhibition is a timeline of love from the 1920s to 1940s...."

Check out my article featured in Hellion Magazine on the current Picasso exhibition at the Gagosian Gallery in Chelsea! It was a lovely showing! I have never been a huge Picasso fan but after visiting this exhibition, I saw both him and his work in a whole new light. The show humanizes the womanizer, giving light to the deep adoration he had towards one of his primary inspirations... Marie-Thérèse. 

Definitely a must-see!

Ascension Art Show

If  you've followed my blog, you would know by now how much of a huge supporter I am towards artist Masahiro Ito. A man of many hats and pure, raw imagination. Masahiro has been on a roll, showcasing his work throughout his sole exhibitions this year. Kicking off his wild streak with  Eye of the Wolf, which brought in great success. He then followed with Ascension, which was a bit like a "part deux" of Eye of the Wolf. Masa always has a great following of loyal supporters consisting of fellow gifted artists, musicians, models, bloggers, and the art-appreciative crowd. Ascension showcased Masa's lovely designs, modeled by a few gorgeous ladies... some photographed by Masa himself..!! He's a  jack of all trades, I must say!  Shots from my "Thunderwolf and his She-Wolves" post were a part of the exhibition.  

New York Auto Show 2011!

 I've never had the opportunity to visit an annual colossal collection of classy clunkers. This year though, I wasn't letting anything stop me from being a part of one. I'm happy to admit I've popped my car show cherry at the New York Auto Show. And now it seems as if I will be paying the Jacob Javits center TWO mandatory visits per year: Comic Con, and the NYAS.

I wasn't always a car fanatic. Shit, at one point I thought Honda and Hyundai were the same company. Up until a sweet and ever so dear automobile super-enthusiast anointed my curiosity into the auto-world. Now I find myself scanning passerby car customizations, lusting upon vintage beauties, and swooning over M3 Beemers. My auto-savvyness is far from phenom... but my inquisitive curiosity for all things visually stunning, is ever-growing.  

Here are a few snapshots of the glossy 4 wheel gorgeousities I had the pleasure of meeting...

i am blessed to have the acquaintance and affinity of many talented and inspirational artists. but one artist that i am very lucky to have an alliance with is Masahiro Ito. he is one of the most unique, gifted and enlightening individuals i have the pleasure of knowing. Brooklyn based via Japan... sculptor, painter, graphic designer, fashion designer, animator,  and mix media artist... he truly is a jack of all trades. his work is a reflection of his unique individuality and expression of homage towards his influences. his craft embraces everything from hip hop and graffiti arts, to mother nature and native american culture. honoring his passions through his creative endeavors.

on april 7th masahiro starred in  his solo show "Eye of the Wolf" at the dis micro gallery in dumbo brooklyn. a marvelous visual event composed of  the  different art forms masa uses for his expressions. paintings, installations, fashion, figurines, video. and even recylcing. also featuring the many talented artists that have worked with masahiro. yours truly having the pleasure of being one of them.

meeting masa at Graffolution was the beginning of one of my favorite collaborations. you can check out my blog post on our collabo by clicking here.  it's always a delight having the opportunity to work with exalting individuals who burst of contagious inspirations.

Eye of the Wolf runs from april 7th to june 1st.

there is also an upcoming exhibition  by masahiro at the same location.

the show is called  ascension and will run from may 5th to may 31st.

ToyTokyo x TTU Gallery: Japan Benefit

 "perseverance is strength"

NYC based toy and collectibles retailer Toy Tokyo, recently put together The Benefit Art Auction Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief on saturday April 2nd. An exhibition featuring over 50 different artists who all lovingly donated their gorgeous work to be auctioned off. with 100% of the profits going to globalgiving.org who  will contribute it to the Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami Relief. discovering such a compassionate event with a variety of "big name" artists such as ron english, ewok, cope2, faust and shepard fairey, i had to attend!  i'm always down for an exhibition, plus i had to go out and show support to a few of my artist friends, and the many other gifted artists who went out of their way to help heal Japan through their craft. without any kind of compensation other than the warm feeling of alleviation.  hats off to you all and your wonderful effort to aid! <3

New York Aquarium!

I'm quite the homebody in the winter. i hibernate my life away, only showing up to work and an occasional night out with good drinks and better friends. but no matter the climate or season, i'll always be down to check out an exhibition. being the overly curious and easily entertained girly girl that i am.

this past tuesday, i paid a visit to the ny aquarium in coney island. i have never been to this aquarium, and or ANY aquarium in well over 8 years!! so you bet i was hella psyched....!!!! i didn't think the aquarium would be open in mid winter, but come to find out not only are they open all hours of the morning to the afternoon, but it was also pleasantly desolate. now, i don't HATE people of anything, but it sure is lovely to view each showcase without the need of a wait, or a blocked view. spacious, calm, and abundantly beautifully filled with gorgeous marine life. i brought along my baby and took tons of pics. sigh, falling more and more in love with every stuning aquatic wonder i came across...

and what better way to embrace such an entry than with
some old school italians, a sphinx, and a ferris wheel?!!!

while in paris, i kicked it back with mona lisa at the Musée du Louvre.
the last time i had the pleasure of being amidst the masterpieces the loure holds, was 6 years ago. no art exhibition, no showcase  that i have ever attended  compares to this treasure chest of a museum.  this is definitely a worldwide landmark, home to a number of mankind's precious artistic gems. located in the heart of paris, the city of lights... being a precious gem of its own, nestling some of histories most breathtaking monuments.

as thrilled as a kid at a candy store, i snapped away countless of pictures...
navigating through italian works of art and egyptian jewels.
