Artist Sormeh Saei's "Double Take".

Art and music, two of life's beautiful delights. If you're not in love with one, you're in love with the other. And most of the time, in love with both. Artist Sormeh Saei brings these two pleasures together through her art work, creating a world where art embraces music, and music embraces art.

Sormeh Saei began the new year presenting her solo show, Double Take, exhibiting portraits of her most influential male musicians while growing up. Double Take features legends like Jimi Hendrix, John Lennon, Michael Jackson, Biggie, and more. Sormeh has had her worked admired by many of the artists she's starred in her paintings, as well as features in print, online and TV media. I've gotten to know Sormeh's artwork online, but seeing her work in person was an absolute pleasure!

I had the chance to learned more about Sormeh's influences and interests after the show. Check out my interview with artist Sormeh Saei, as well as a few pieces from her exhibition Double Take!

Stephie Selects.

Welcome to Stephie Selects!

Stephie Selects is my new themed post featuring a weekly favorite of mine. Every week I will select a person, place or thing that I consider to be worth the spotlight. I will be reviewing and sharing my experience with the selection, giving my readers a weekly look at all of my favorite things!

This week's Stephie Selects are my Campbell's Soups 50th Anniversary Andy Warhol Cans

Andy Warhol's world renowned piece, 32 Campbell's Soup Cans, turned 50 this year. Campbell's Soup celebrated the 50th Anniversary by releasing a series of limited edition soup cans, with labels honoring Warhol's signature pop-art style. Giving a fun Warhol twist to the classic red, white, and gold colored cans we all grew up knowing. Apart from a funky colored label, each can also comes with a brief summary of the series, along with a famous Andy Warhol quote, all found on the back label. Art lovers have dropped millions on Warhol's pieces, but these limited edition soup cans cost a mere $.75 per can at Target.

Once I found out about the Campbell x Warhol celebration, I absolutely had to get some! These soups were so hot, they sold out in over 4 different Targets! I finally came across a Target that still had the exclusive cans in stock, and grabbed one of each. Never thought a few soup cans could resemble such a work of art! Definitely a collectors item!

The soup cans are sold out everywhere but can be found for sale on eBay !

Amazing SSS Portrait by Irene Sanchez.

Hello loves! I wanted to take a moment to give a special shout out to graphic artist Irene Sanchez. Irene designed this amazing portrait of me pictured above. I was BEYOND flattered when she showed me!! Not only is Irene's work flawless, but I can tell she is very selective in who she chooses to make a portrait for. I'm honored to be one of her selected few! Irene, thank you so much for this gorgeous portrait, I have had it as my screen saver ever since you made it lol!

Check out Irene's blog at

and check out more of her beautiful work after the jump!

Pumpkin Pickings and Pumpkin Carvings!

Fall is in the air and all of the cozy fall activities that comes with it! One of my favorite things to do during the Autumn season is going pumpkin picking. You can do so much with a big orange pumpkin... carve it, eat it, use it for decoration, and even blog about it!

This year I stopped by one of my favorite places in my home borough: Queens County Farms. The ultimate place for all things fall. At QCF you'll find pumpkin picking, hayrides, a huge corn maze, apple cider, locally grown fruits and veggies, a carnival, and even a blue ribbon fair featuring award winning agricultural showcases.

Check out how my pumpkin picking and pumpkin carving went this year!

Comic Con 2012 Recap!

The amazing Comic Book Convention 2012 hit town this past month, and yours truly stopped by to join all of the pop culture fun! I never miss a single year of ComicCon, nor do I miss a single year documenting the convention for my readers. Hoping to inspire those who have never been to CC, to give it a go next year! But comic books aren't the only thing filling up the Jacob Javits Center... there's everything from the latest upcoming movies, video games, tv shows, artist meet&greets, fun giveaways, rare collectibles and toys, vintage showcases, music, dancing, and my personal favorite- COSPLAY!  Wether you have boxes full of comics, or have never opened a single comic book in your life, ComicCon definitely knows how to show you a great time.

Here's a brief recap of my Comic Con fun this year!

SSS x StunnerOfTheMonth x MisterBouncer

Imagine picking up your mail and receiving a pair of super cool, rare, fashion-forward eyeglasses. A brand new pair of stunner shades, every single month. Bringing you a brand new look each time. Well, that's what the superb people at StunnerOfTheMonth.com bring to the masses. Based out of California and reaching out globally, StunMo is a monthly sunglasses subscription service. For just $9 a month, StunMo mails you a pair of rare unbranded eyewear,  hand picked by their world wide scouts, who spend day and night searching for the freshest, juiciest eyewear. A stylish idea brainstormed by four friends in San Francisco, the StunMo movement began in 2009 and has taken over with worldwide suscribers. An idea as amazing as StunMo was bound to skyrocket!

Being the style gurus they are, StunMo maintain vibrancy all throughout their headquarters. Linking up with phenomenal mural artist MisterBouncer, they gave their offices a whole new look, bringing to life a breathtaking mural modeled by yours truly SSS.

I nearly fell out of my chair when MisterBouncer himself contacted me with the news! An immense honor it is to be chosen as the mural's star! An absolute highlight of my year being featured in an extraordinary piece of art, done by an incredibly gifted artist, for such an exceptional company... all the way across the country!

Street Art & Sex Hook Up at the MOS!

One of my favorite places has put together three of my favorite things, all under one roof: sex, internet, and street art! Yes, the Museum of Sex does it again, showcasing two spanking new exhibitions:  Universe of Desire and F*CK ART. The installations opened to the public the night of February 8th, and yours truly got to attend the opening reception! I was absolutely thrilled to get a first look at the new exhibitions, along with documenting a sneak peek for my readers!

Universe of Desire exposes the biggest and dirtiest side of the cyber world. Shedding light upon the sex crazed, fetish Utopia called the Internet and embracing all it beholds. The exhibition reflects how we share our innermost thoughts, fantasies, and desires via electronic screens throughout the world.

F*CK ART is definitely the man of the hour at the MOS. Featuring 20 select artists, street art takes over the third floor, producing a multicolored manifestation of nitty gritty, lusty busty, nothing held back SEX. Not for the faint of heart, F*CK ART exudes the in-your-face attitude the world of graffiti is known for. Mix a bit of lust into that, and you got yourself a party!

Participating artists include AIKO. Andrew H. Shirley, B-rad Izzy, Cassius Fouler. DICKCHICKEN. DROID, GEN 2, OZE 108 of 907, El Celso, Jeremy Novy, JMR, LUSH, Miss Van, MODE 2, Patch Whisky, ROSTARR, RTTP: Nathan Vincent & Bryan Raughton, Tony Bones, William Thomas Porter, WOLFTITS, and Wonderpuss Octopus.

I've been a M.O.S fan and avid visiter for some time now, and I've always fallen in lust with their showcases. But I must admit, these two new exhibitions are the creme of the crop! In my opinion, they're the most interactive installations yet, as well as the most provocative! Definitely a must see!

Check out a sneak peek of these new exhibitions at the Museum of Sex!

Reebok x Reed Space: "Classic Sessions NYC"

The love for art and music, go hand in hand. So when one finds themselves amidst both wonders, one is guaranteed greatness. Appreciating both crafts, Reebok and Reedspace have teamed up and introduced the new "Classic Sessions NYC" at 145 Orchard in the LES. For the next few months, musicians and visual artists will pair up and take over the pop-up venue open to the public. Kicking off the brilliant series was the talented Queens MC T.Shirt on the music side, and the dynamic duo UR New York on the art side. Inspired by each other's gifts, UR New York presented a fantastic installation influenced by one of T.Shirt's tracks off his album "The Fuck". T.Shirt gave music lovers a superb show by performing 4 songs off his album, while beautiful artistry flowed throughout the walls.

Music embracing art, art embracing music.

Yours truly attended the event and captured the action... Check it out!

Museum of the Moving Image!

I can be quite the museum junkie, so when I go a long time without visiting one, I get the museum itch! The museum itch must be controlled. I recently managed to soothe the itch by visiting The Museum of the Moving Image! Located in my home borough of Queens, it surprises me that I hadn't gone before. And yet, I'm glad I waited this long, being that the museum underwent a recent expansion. This place is an absolute Utopia for pop culture, television, and movie enthusiasts! I absolutely recommend it, you'll feel like a kid in a candy store! But the museum doesn't limit itself to just the big screen, inside you'll find everything from vintage video games, to an Egyptian movie theatre!

If names like Star Wars, Nintendo, Muppets, Carrie Bradshaw, and Charlie Chaplin make your heart run wild, then this is the place for you! There's something for everyone at the Museum of the Moving image!

Check out my experience at the Museum of the Moving Image!

Fall for Your Hearing Damage by The R.O.A.R

Check out my good friend Steve's aka The R.O.A.R 's amazing video for his sMASH UP song "Fall For Your Hearing Damage".  A Drake and Thom Yorke fusion, brilliantly put together by The R.O.A.R!

The video is a beautiful composition featuring The R.O.A.R and actress/singer Sura Contin aka Love. Telling the story of a young couple sharing a sweet and nostalgic sunny day on the boardwalk. Throughout the video you get a feel of amorous affection with a sense of afflicted love. Sura Contin's sensuality is overwhelming in intimate bed and shower scenes. As The R.O.A.R brings his acoustic guitar to life and vocalizes the sense of inevitable warm relation.

Directed by Hassan Kinley, co-owner of Karin and Raoul Magazine.
Produced/edited by Darnell White of Who We Are Studios.

All of the music and vocals are re-performed and recorded by The R.O.A.R and will be out on his EP "All I have is my record collection and Broken Heart". Apart from The R.O.A.R, Steve is part-takes in the amazing electro-rock band The Fire and The Reason. Steve is an absolute genius at embracing his passion and continuos to blow me away with his talent! So thankful to have a such a gifted friend!

Technodrome x SSS

Logging onto Facebook one night I expected the usual mundane updates. Obnoxious promoter event invites, a few message inquiries, a photo comment here and there etc. And as dragging as facebook can get, this login was a bit different. Upon logging in I came across a photo that blew me away.... that photo is the gorgeous artwork you see above.

Joshua Williams is the mind behind the quixotically manifested creator otherwise known as Technodrome. Revolutionizing familiar faces through his visionary expressions, NYC based Technodrome embraces a whole new twist to the common portrait. His creative endeavors influenced by a Basquiat-Warhol fusion, Technodrome see no boundaries when handpicking his characters. SSS being one of his latest recruits, I am incredibly flattered by such gesture! Specially when coming from such a bold imaginative.

Check out more Technodrome personalities after the jump!

ZILLADIDIT x SSS

Eccentric, bold, and superlative. I'm speaking about none other than the graphic artist, ZILLADIDIT. Scanning through his work, you inevitably enter the mind of ZILLA. A world of chromatic brilliance intertwined through curious characters and abstract compositions. Mesmerized through his use of trippy hues, you become inevitably curious of the mind behind each vivid piece. That right there is a true artistic impact.

With that said, I am beyond flattered to present to you a ZILLADIDIT x SSS fusion!

New York's Comic Con 2011!

At last...!!! The time had come for all of NYC's imaginative aficionados to rejoice in comic book euphoria. Yes, the 2011 New York Comic Convention hit the Jacob Javits Center from October 13th-16th 2011. Comic book enthusiasts of all ages, backgrounds, and throughout all of the five boroughs attended the phenomenal convention. Some transformed into their favorite childhood characters, comic and video game characters, role models,  and even favorite toys!

If you've followed my blog long enough, you would know about my long time devotion to Archie Comics, and the Archie fanatic in me just cannot miss a single NYCC... so I of course HAD TO attend! Apart from the Archie indulgence, I also love to engaging in the quirky comic book fun! Not just comic books fill the JJC, but also cosplay, movies, video games, anime, and all things that scream pop culture! Expressive, inspirational, and brilliant... the NYCC is an annual event that any New Yorker, no matter the interests, will find simply incredible fun!

Check out my NYCC fun!

Pumpkin Carving is Just So Charming!

Tis the season for all things spooky, creative incognitos, and pumpkin carving!

Ever since I was a little girl, I'd look forward to the month of October for all of the reasons every kid does! But one of the small things that would always catch my eye, were the gorgeously glowing Jack-o-Lanterns. Growing up, I never tried carving a pumpkin of my own. And now at 23 years old and always seeking all kinds of creative outlets, I've decided to give pumpkin carving a shot. And I am so glad I did, having discovered a lovely Halloween passtime!

Not to toot my own horn, but I think I did a pretty awesome job creating my first Jack-O-Lantern! I found the craft to be incredibly relaxing, therapeutic, and inspiring. The kinds of influences I love to embrace!

I documented my pumpkin carving experience through a step by step procedure, hoping to give off some crafty inspiration! Check it out and maybe you'll want to bring some pumpkins to life too!

Instagram 8x8 Gallery Exhibition

If you've followed my blog long enough, you would know I am an avid Instagram user. And every Tuesday, I present you Hipsta-Insta Tuesdays, showcasing images of my week through both Hipstamatic and Instagram. I've been using Instagram for exactly a year now, way before it got hella trendy! But I am glad it got popular because it is a fantastic photo application which has managed to built up an incredible following. Boasting more than 8million users, the app has grown increasingly in a very short time, and even had Facebook offer $2billion for ownership of the app. Thankfully, Facebook's offer was turned down.

Amongst todays many social networks, Instagram has to be one of my favorites. The Instagram community gives off a very welcoming and inspirational vibe. Users share bits and pieces of their everyday lives, hashtag, capture beauty in the most simple things, or engage in themed photography. All through Instagram's fun filter effects. Users can comment and "like" each others pics, creating a fun IG bond.

With a following of over 8 million users, the Instagram community was bound to bring their IG galleries to life. And so they did via the 8x8 Gallery Exhibition at Mosaic Skate Shop & Gallery in the Bronx. A gathering of 15 IG users showcased their IG photographs, creating a collection of 44 images all beautifully framed throughout the gallery walls. With approx 200 guests, the turnout was fantastic!  Making the very first annual IG gallery an amazing success!

Yours truly SSS was there, documenting all the IG fun and meeting alot of amazing people!

Check it!
