Introducing the "So-Sexy Hair Mask"!
A hair mask composed of some of mother-nature's best hair care remedies. From brittle hair, split ends, dull hair to oily hair, this all-natural, customizable mask will be just what you need to show your hair some good lovin.
Check out my "So-Sexy Hair Mask" recipe and take your hair out on a lovely lunch date!
What You'll Need:
Olive Oil (1/4 cup)
Amazing for deep conditioning... wether it be for skin or hair, olive oil can be found in many all-natural beauty care recipes.
Coconut Milk (3/4 can)
Coconuts, coconut milk, coconut oil, coconut anything will do wonders for your hair and skin. Wether you're drinking it, or using it in your hair, coconuts are super hydrating. Packed with vitamin B, we will use the coconut milk to help thin out the mask, making it easier to apply.
Honey (1/4 cup)
One of my favorite things on earth... honey!! Honey is a humectant, which means that it holds on to water molecules. This is a desirable property in a moisturizer, especially for hair and skin. Honey has healing effects on broken hair and provides tons of shine.
Avocado (whole)
The magical avocado! Avocados are super high in vitamins B and E, which work at the cellular level to protect and strengthen hair. Vitamin B is essential for hair growth. Vitamin E helps repair damage on the scalp, which may slow or prevent hair growing.
Banana (half)
Volume volume VOLUME! Apart from being full of vitamins, bananas do an incredible job in volumizing your hair. It helps in repairing dry, brittle and sun-damaged hair. A superb conditioning ingredient.
Strawberries (3)
Strawberries help clarify your hair which then aids in hair growth. Strawberries cleanse your hair of oils and dirty... the little seeds act as somewhat of an exfoliants for your hair. Antioxidant with vitamins A, B and C... these sweet little berries are amazing!
Eggs (2 yolks)
Egg yolks have been known to be packed with all kinds of vitamins that help out in all aspects of health. Hair is no exception! Eggs are a superb anti-frizz treatment. Essential fatty acids and vitamins present in egg yolk give it a great conditioning effect on dry and damaged hair.
The best thing about this hair mask is that it's completely customizable to YOUR hair type. The ingredients I provided tackle all hair problems equally. But if you suffer more from oily hair, you can add extra strawberries which help clarify. Or if you suffer from dry dull hair, you can add extra honey. Thin hair, you can add extra banana. You can use the list provided above for reference or google some more info on each ingredient!
These ingredients and amounts make a hair mask for TWO applications. I use half for my hair and save the rest for next application. I apply once a week. I store the remaining mix into a tupperware and keep it in the freezer until next application.
Mixing bowl
Mixer
If you don't have a mixer, feel free to use a blender or a whisk. Anything that will help mix your ingredients to a creamy batter.
Plastic wrap
Procedure!
Begin with your avocado. Empty out the creamy avocado (without the seed and skin) into your mixing bowl.
MASH UP YOUR AVOCADO as much as you can with a spoon or fork! This is essential! You don't want to end up with avocado chunks in your hair... they will never leave your hair lol
Add about half or 3/4 can of coconut milk. The cocnut milk is very much needed to cream up the mix. YOU DON'T WANT A CHUNKY HAIR MASK! You can keep adding more coconut milk if needed!
Chopped strawberries next. I suggest you chop the strawberries into tiny pieces or even better... puree it! The little strawberry seeds can be annoying when in your hair so try mushing it as much as possible (unlike I did in the picture lol)
Add in two egg YOLKS!
Half a banana. Add into bowl by cutting it into little pieces and mashing it.
Add about 1/4 cup of honey.
1/4 cup of olive oil
And TA-DA!
MIXING TIME!
MIX MIX MIX!
Mix until you have a creamy substance and get rid of as many chunks as possible.
Our batter is ready!
Now it's time for your hair to eat it all up!
Make sure hair is completely combed through
Part hair into 4 different sections.
Two on the bottom two on top.
This will make it easier to apply the batter evenly throughout your hair.
Now with your hair parted, get ready to get messy!
I suggest doing this in a tub wearing a shirt you don't care much about lol
You can use gloves but I didn't because I like to get messy lol
It may not seem like it but the mix actually smells LOVELY!!!!!!
I began applying at my ends. I suffer from dry dead ends so I paid great mind to this section in my hair. I massaged the mix into my ends.
Once all sections have been covered in green mush, I joined all 4 sections at the top of my head.
I had an avocado party on top of my head. It smelled nice!!
Work into your hair. Work into your scalp!
Massage Massage Massaaaaagggeee!!
Oh hay!
Once your hair and avocado finish making love... it's time to put cover them in plastic wrap!
This will help the mixx melt into your hair cuticles even better without much oxygen getting in the way.
You Don't have to use plastic wrap!!
You can substitute with any hair cap of your own. The point is to trap the ingredients.
Wrap that hair up nice and tight!
#patyourweave
This is completely optional!!!
I added heat to my mask by heating up the wrap with my blowdryer.
I added a bit of heat until I felt the plastic cap get nice a warm. NOT BURNING HOT!
Heat helps your hair absorb better, so heat helped my air eat the avocado all up!
Keep cap on for 30-45 minutes.
I actually kept mine on for an hour.

After 30-45 minutes wash your hair as you normally would. If you have to shampoo twice to get everything out feel free to do so. I suggest using a light conditioner... your hair is getting ALOT of moisture already!!!
When you are done, you might still find some seeds in your hair. This is ok... they will leave once you start combing your hair... and they leave completely if you blow dry your hair.
I HIGHLY SUGGEST BLOWDRYING YOUR HAIR!
This is the best way to get rid of any little seeds left in your hair and the best way to see results!!
I promise your hair is going to smell absolutely AMAZING afterwards!
I usually use anti-frizz/straightening serum when blow drying my hair..
BUT I found that after doing this treatment I did not need ANY OF THAT!

@Anon2
A very simple hairstyle I wear to bed... tutorial up soon!
Thanks for the mask recipe! I use a pro naturals argan oil mask that works great too, but I love home remedies.
I see that someone already asked about how you achieved heatless curls and you mentioned posting a tutorial up soon. Any idea of how soon that will be? I'd like to try it ASAP. Thanks!
I just did the ombre to my hair and hate it. i want to dye it back to its natural color asap but im freaking out because of the bleach and my hair was pretty damaged to begin with. Do you recommend applying the hair mask and then re-dying?
I'm really looking forward to finally trying this mask. Do you recommend washing it out with both shampoo and conditioner? Thanks.
Thanks for posting this, so excited to finally try it out. Do you recommend washing the mask out as one would normally wash their hair, with shampoo and conditioner?
