NYC Agenda Trade Show!

The Agenda Trade Show is where today's streetwear and sportswear unite, showcasing the latest styles and catering to the masses of buyers, distributers, and press. The trade show welcomes brands of all sizes, from the spanking newbies taking their baby steps, to the well-known and well-established empires. Embracing not just fashion but art, culture, style, and music as well. A melting pot of today's streetwear, Agenda Show is essential to those in the streetwear scene.

Yours truly had the pleasure of attending NYC Agenda which is only open to buyers, distributers, and press. I had an insightfully good time soaking in all of the upcoming designs that will soon blanket the streets! Having a few friends in the biz, plus past streetwear modeling gigs, I have become quite familiar with the scene... so off to Agenda I went, for a refreshing update on what's new! Managed to take a few pics here and there, although many booths were prohibiting picture-taking. Check out some of my finds!

Welcome aboard the NYC Agenda Trade Show!

My charming friend Kimmi was also attending Agenda, so we decided to go together <3 Apart from being an absolute doll, Kimmi has experience in vintage fashions and aspirations in expanding in the field. Attending Agenda with her was superb, being that we shared mutual high interests in the show! Managed to catch a quick candid of her amidst the Agenda crowd.

Strolled along for some time but had to stop once I came across this snapback and fitted booth. I don't usually wear caps but I do have good knowledge in the fitted world. Having worked in New Era for years, I've learned to love the fitted cap! So I had to see what American Needle had to offer!

The sales manager was a complete sweetheart, as she showed me around and answered all of my questions. Everytime I inquired about a certain style, she'd pop up with it in hand and allowed me to photograph. First, I asked about their Cooperstown collection... and up came a Pirates pillbox along with a variety of popular Cooperstown styles! The green brim cap to the right is actually a New York Yankees cap. Quite a popular item, with plenty in stock!

Hmm, Cooperstown is great to have but I decided to get a bit more trivial. So I then asked about Negro Leagues caps. And up popped four different styles of them! Hmm... She was good... so I then decided to throw a curveball at her and asked about any HBCU caps..

... and that's when over five different styles of black college caps came up.

I knew then this booth wasn't playing any games! Hats off to them!

Kept strolling along until I bumped into my friend Mike, PR of RocksmithNYC at a Rocksmith booth. The brand being quite popular nowadays, I had to take a look around!

I was then introduced to Josh, also a Rocksmith PR who gave me a great tour of the up and coming styles! Don't want to give too much away so here's a few sneak peeks!

Said my thank you's and goodbye's at Rocksmith, and then came across this eye-catching booth showcasing the up and coming new line Moss, decorated with over 10 bottles of 40oz malt liquor.

This I had to see!

Neutral shades and tribal prints are always a go in my book! The line just entered the scene and made its debut day one of Agenda. Had a lovely meet and greet with the owner/director of Moss, Shahed. Shahed was pleasant and filled me on the brands successful debut at the show and their upcoming Spring release. Definitely looking forward to it!

Wish they had these in a ladies size 2!!!!! HOT!!

One of the bigger showcases was the Herschel Supply Co.

Fine quality backpacks, luggage, and cases.

I absolutely loved the vivid prints on all of the different style bags!

Another large showcase, Obey.

Maybe we have been living under a rock, but neither Kimmi nor I knew much about Obey's clothing line. Nonetheless, we still skimmed through racks of apparel and accessories showcased, and actually found some goodies!

One of my favorites was the collection of different colored baseball tees,

designed with the always eccentric and gorgeous Obey-styled crests.

Even though it's menswear, even a girly-girl like me would definitely flaunt one these!!

As if the baseball tees weren't enough, this Keith Haring basic beanie completely stole my heart! Checking out Obey's superb upcoming styles, my tomboy side has been awakened and inspired!

One of my last stops was the Mishka booth. Where they were not allowing any pictures :(

I wish I could have shown you all the very stylish pastel button downs the line will be releasing... quite a different approach the brand has taken. But wait till you fellas check them out! I'm positive they'll be an absolute success!

Agenda show was an absolute pleasure to attend!

Mani Monday!

Hello my lovelies!
I welcome you all to this weeks Mani Monday session!

Three brand new manis await you after the jump..

including a classic french, a funky tribal, and even a wild cheetah!

Lets get this mani party started with the classic french manicure!

I haven't done one of these in ages! I usually sport a nude or a red when I want to keep it classic. But this week I frenched up my tips. If you've kept up with my manis, you'll notice my nails have taken a different shape over time. I have been filing my nails into the very hot and trendy stiletto nail! I absolutely LOVE sporting this new kitty-cat shape!

2012 Year of the Dragon mani!

Welcome to this weeks Mani Monday!

The second mani showcase of 2012 :) This week, I share with you all two brand new manis, along with a product feature! Ever so often, I'll have a special product featured on my Mani Monday, one that I highly recommend for your nail care/nail art! Hope you gals enjoy this weeks manis!

Casual Red-Orange striped mani.

Tried this gorgeous bright coral shade one day this week, as a suggested color. I had a long thin nail brush I had never tried using before (was a bit intimidated by the length of the brush). Turned out to be a very easy to control brush! Did these two striped with ease! Kinda reminds me of Adidas..!

Year of the DRAGON!

Had to show my dragon love with these 2012 year of the DRAGON tips! Red and gold are the colors of the Dragon in the Chinese zodiac. And the cool thing is, the DRAGON is my Chinese zodiac sign! A 2012 year of the Dragon was destined!!

Did a scale like design, representing the mystical dragon, on top of a clear coat base, making the gorgeous red and gold shade POP! This mani got tons of great feedback!

Mani Monday!

Happy New Year beautiful nail art enthusiasts!

And welcome to the first Mani Monday of 2012!

This week, I have only one mani to share with you gals, my golden-wine gradient mani pictured above. I began with a solid, deep plum shade. Then with an eyeshadow brush, I dabbed on a shimmery golden gradient. The two shades go beautifully together! If you look closely, you'll be able to notice the difference between the ring finger and the rest of the mani. As an accent, I decided to reverse the gradient on the ring finger, giving the mani a bit more personality. I am planning on doing a gradient tutorial video soon for any gals having trouble with their gradient manis so stay tuned!

Kissy Kissys!!!

Just wanted to take the time to wish my readers a Happy New Year 2012!

I hope everyones New Years Eve was spectacular! The picture above is one of the very few pictures I have of my NYE. I of course took tons of pics that night, specially since I had designed my own NYE dress! But unfortunately my iPhone 4, debit card, and ID card were all stolen that night. My night was amazing up until my belongings were gone. It was incredibly heartbreaking moment to me, being that I'm not an individual that loses such meaningful items!! But even though my first hours in 2012 began quite difficult, I don't let such negativity defer my strive! On the contrary, I am inspired to skyrocket upwards into positivity rather than anoint any type of negativity. After all, 2012 is the year of the DRAGON, and the DRAGON happens to be my Chinese zodiac sign! So you can expect TONS of superb SSS spectacles in 2012!

Once again, I hope everyone had a spectacular NYE

I unfortunately only have ONE picture of this sexy mani. And oh yeah... RIP my long gorgeous nails ;( They're all broken up! But anywhoo, I am SO proud of myself with this mani! I absolutely love it, it's a real BADDASSS design.

Glossy fire-engine red, garnished with nail art gems! I wore this mani for a good 4 days straight, marveling at my fingertips every chance I got! Picked up these amazing nail art gems at the beauty shop and clearly went crazy. I suggest all of you nail art dolls grab a bag of nail art gems... they'll run you about $6 but are totally worth it! The possibilities are endless with these babies. I used a dotting tool for precise placement of the jewels, then sealed it all with two coats of seche vite. And not ONE diamond fell out for 4 days! I plan on sporting a similar mani for my NYE night... short nails and all, I'm sure it'll look just as great as the first time!

I think this is one of my favorite manis of 2011..

and I am happy to wrap up my 2011 Mani Mondays with it!

Holiday Mani Monday wraps up this week with two new holiday manis!

With all this Christmas maddness, New Years Eve needs some love too!

Here's a glitzy glam mani I cooked up this week, while thinking of a NYE look.

GOLD!

Firstly, please disregard the slight red around my nails. Previous to doing this mani, I was sporting a very bright red polish which ended up being very hard to remove and stained my little finger tips ;(

Anywhoo back to the mani!

A matted holographic gold, accented with glossy black tips. Very patent-leatheresque! I snagged a gorgeous holo gold this week, a gold that had tiny little colorful specks... looks beautiful both glossy and matted. The reason I matted the gold holo on this mani was so the tiny colorful specks can be seen easier. Plus the glossy black tips made the whole design look hella GLAM!

Might just have to do this one for NYE!

With all of the holiday madness among us, it's only natural for us ladies to have all of the more reason to go shopping and get dolled up, which both happen to be two of my absolute favorite pastimes! I've been searching high and low for the right holiday outfit, mainly for New Years Eve... the night I embrace my inner glam goddess the most! I am very picky when it comes to my eventful outfits, always shopping with a particular look in mind. I've tried to stray away from my tunnel vision as much as I can, since it only makes shopping harder when I act so stubborn with myself! Got inspired by the beautiful sparkling icicles made during the chilly winter days. A very easy mani done with tape, Took me about 10 minutes! It looks harder than it is. I also love how I was able to use baby blue for this mani, being that I don't use blue too often.

Snow Tree Mani!

This mani came out sooo cute, and I didn't even think it would honestly. I have been wanting to do something with an xmas tree but not the average green and red. I am not too into multi-colored manis. I usually keep it under 3 shades, I feel it makes the mani more outfit compatible.

Using tape, I made a little xmas tree stencil for my ring finger, and using a dotting tool I made a snowman for my thumb. Finished it off with sponging on some gradient snow on the tips! Little accents included shimmer on the snowed tips, glitter on the tree for lights, and a star polish as a tree topper on the tiny xmas tree!

This mani got tons of great feedback! Would look lovely with a one-toned dress this xmas!

Fall for Your Hearing Damage by The R.O.A.R

Check out my good friend Steve's aka The R.O.A.R 's amazing video for his sMASH UP song "Fall For Your Hearing Damage". A Drake and Thom Yorke fusion, brilliantly put together by The R.O.A.R!

The video is a beautiful composition featuring The R.O.A.R and actress/singer Sura Contin aka Love. Telling the story of a young couple sharing a sweet and nostalgic sunny day on the boardwalk. Throughout the video you get a feel of amorous affection with a sense of afflicted love. Sura Contin's sensuality is overwhelming in intimate bed and shower scenes. As The R.O.A.R brings his acoustic guitar to life and vocalizes the sense of inevitable warm relation.

All of the music and vocals are re-performed and recorded by The R.O.A.R and will be out on his EP "All I have is my record collection and Broken Heart". Apart from The R.O.A.R, Steve is part-takes in the amazing electro-rock band The Fire and The Reason. Steve is an absolute genius at embracing his passion and continuos to blow me away with his talent! So thankful to have a such a gifted friend!

Picked up this gorgeous new shade the other day. My camera wasn't too good at capturing its true shade, but trust me it is absolutely lovely! A very warm, autumn shade. Compleimenting ones fall outfits quite well! And for $2 at your local pharmacy, you simple can't go wrong!

I was going to leave my mani a basic matte.

But I couldn't resist and gave into a glossy french mani!

Fell MADLY IN LOVE with this glitter laquer!

Stumbled upon it at my local beauty supply in Queens. I nearly fell when I picked it up and saw these colorful twinkling lights looking back at me... resembling a mystical galaxy trapped in a tiny little bottle!

I am not big on glitters, but this shade absolutely stole my heart!

I didn't even need a design to be content with my mani.

The beautiful sparkles against the onyx black did just fine!

Look at the glittery rainbow sparkles!!

The colors change in the light... this picture does it absolutely no justice!

Such a rarity finding a colorfully vibrant black glitter!

This mani got tons of great feedback. It definitely has a lot of spunk to it! I had been trying to master this POWPOW design for quite some time now. And have finally figured out the secret to conquering it!

This design is simply done with tape. the trick is to let your nails COMPLETELY dry before applying any kind of tape. I mean like wait a day or two before you start stickin tape on. I let my basic pink mani rock out for a day then I pick up the tape and started stenciling.

No mess, no residue, no peeling! Absolutely crisp results! And I cannot wait to do a second one!

Wanted to give you gals an example of a very cute nail/lipstick combination I had on this week while flaunting my POWPOW mani. Coordinating your lipstick with your mani can spice up even the most basic look! And it's so easy to do! It's all about details!

New Layout! Polar Pucker v.8

Bonjour Mi Amores!!!!

It's your girl SSS checking in after a very LONG and dragging hiatus! Did you miss me???

Well SSS is back in full effect!! Bringing alongside of me a spanking new LOOK on SSS blog!

Just in case you haven't noticed, I dolled up my baby in some sweet winter apparel. A big difference from the bikini lovin' I had on all summer. Times are changing and one must dress accordingly!

I have re-vamped my blog's look, and I have also added tons of new user-friendly features! All in honor of my babys 1st years anniversary! Yes, I have had my blog for longer than a year, BUT I only started appreciating it a year ago. Within this past year I have made it to 90k hits! Pretty awesome considering I don't get to update as often as I like! I am EVER SO THANKFUL for my readers!! It flatters me more and more me each day seeing my counter go up, I just don't know what you guys see in me :::tear::: but I damn sure do appreciate it!

Now back to the new layout...

This new layout was both a tuffy and a breeze. It was difficult for me to come up with a humble winter color scheme, without looking too holiday-ish. So I pondered and pondered, until I finally decided on the lovely lavender you see around you. An easy-on-the-eye, pale plum shade, combined with both beige and teal accents. The beige definitely adds to the warm causality, and the teal adds just the right amount of POW! I had been looking for. Figuring out what header image to use was also difficult. I wanted to stay away from anything summery of course, and yet being such a summer girl it is very hard to do such a thing! I wanted an image that will be calm enough for the winter season, but still flaunting my personality with a touch of sex appeal. Whille scrolling through my modeling/regular pics, I stumbled upon the pucker pic you see up there. No photographer shot that image, I shot it myself! I recently gave myself a mini photoshoot after doing some makeup modeling for Make Up For Ever. You can check that post out HERE. I feel the image suits the feel of the layout just fine! While still embracing a touch of flirty sex appeal that SSS (my alter ego) loves to flaunt! =p Once I had my theme together, assembling it all has been a breeze! Everything is just falling into place just fine and I am feeling very confident in my growing design skills. Just in case you didn't now, EVERYTHING is done by me. Coding, graphics, theme, photography, etc unless otherwise stated. But the BEST part of my new look is the AWESOME navigation bar you see up there. Highlighted in that pretty teal, you'll find a menu containing 10 links.

A very healthy navigation bar, something my blog has lacked in quite some time now! I have made sure to provide a full 360 degree view into SSS and SSS blog using the navi. links. My blog posts can only provide so much information at a time, and going through archives can be such a drag! So I have organized a list of categories, and have provided links to posts within each category. Along with a new look into SSS through pages such as "Style" and "Collabs". Two topics I rarely touch upon, now emphasized! I have also made picture viewing much easier, providing a user-frindly gallery rather than a pop-up, when clicking on an image!

The bad news is not all of the pages are ready yet.

But the good news is 4 links are!

Muse, Projects, Events/Exhibitions, and Style pages are up and running!

And you can begin a tour of the new SSS blog by checking those pages out!

The rest of the pages will be finished very soon and I will announce them once they are complete!

I hope you guys enjoy the new look, I sure do!

POLKA POLKA!

'It's been a while since I whipped out my polka dots. Feeling a bit preppy one day, I decided to give my poppy dots a go, along with a pretty new pastel polish I picked up recently. I'm always very careful when comning up with a polka dot combination. It's very easy for polka dots to end up looking tacky! I found a great combo on the polish bottle itself! The pretty pastel green with a gleaming bronze.

After carefully applying uniform dots, I matted my tips and VOILA!!

HAPPY MOVEMBERRRR!!!

I absolutely L O V E a man with facial hair. A burly bush is a great way to wooo women nowadays. But that's not the only reason why most fellas are growing their whiskers out this month. Throughout the month of November, fellas put down the razor and sprout their staches and beards in order to raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health.

With the whiskers running wild, these men become real life advertisements all month long. Raising awareness by prompting private and public conversation around the often ignored issue of men’s health. Shedding light specifically on prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men. Beginging in Australia, this movement has spread worldwide and continues to be a superb way for sciety to become more concerned on the health issues that may affect the handsome gender.

In 2010, with the help of nearly 65,000 Movemberers, the movement helped raise $7.5 million USD benefiting the Prostate Cancer Foundation, LIVESTRONG, and the Movember Foundation.

Since I can't grow out my whiskers during Movember, I show my support through my mani! Using my dotting tool, I drew these cute little handlebar staches on each tip, over a sheer nude base.

This mani got TONSSSSSS of great feedback!

Which ended up being a great way to spread the word about Movember!

Nothing flatters me more than when I see dynamic and inspirational individuals complimenting my work. It truly makes my day! I had the absolute pleasure to be featured upon Privacy in Public's blog recently. Privacy in Public is an ever-growing, NYC based clothing brand established in 2007. Carlton Yeito, founder of P.I.P, surprised me with the lovely post on the brands blog, introducing SSS to the P.I.P audience! An absolute delight!

Technodrome x SSS

Logging onto Facebook one night I expected the usual mundane updates. Obnoxious promoter event invites, a few message inquiries, a photo comment here and there etc. And as dragging as facebook can get, this login was a bit different. Upon logging in I came across a photo that blew me away.... that photo is the gorgeous artwork you see above.

Joshua Williams is the mind behind the quixotically manifested creator otherwise known as Technodrome. Revolutionizing familiar faces through his visionary expressions, NYC based Technodrome embraces a whole new twist to the common portrait. His creative endeavors influenced by a Basquiat-Warhol fusion, Technodrome see no boundaries when handpicking his characters. SSS being one of his latest recruits, I am incredibly flattered by such gesture! Specially when coming from such a bold imaginative.
